TULSA, Okla. August 31, 2011 -The first Bobby Garland / Crappie Pro Monster Fest, scheduled for October 28-30 on Oklahoma’s Ft. Gibson Lake, is extending its “early bird” entry option for the pro division to September 15, upon the news that Cabela’s is providing two high-quality rain suits as an early bird prize.

“The plans for this special weekend are progressing perfectly and we’ve already had several teams commit to fishing the pro division,” said Gary Dollahon, speaking on behalf of the two title sponsors – Gene Larew Lures and Crappie Pro. “This great early bird prize opportunity is sure to boost the early entries even more, and that’s only going to add to the quality of the weekend of fun that also includes both a family and kids divisions. All of the pros will be involved in the Friday, Oct. 28 evening activities, consisting of a trick or treat boat parade and crappie fishing seminars that are open to the public.”All teams who have registered and paid their $125 early bird team entries by the new Sept. 15 deadline will be eligible for the special drawing for two Cabela’s Dry-Plus Tourney Trail parka and bibs rain suits. The team that wins the drawing gets to order their two outerwear suits by size, plus also get two free 6’6″ Cabela’s spinning rods along with the rain gear. The total value for the two rain suits and two spinning rods is nearly $1,000.

Event activities kick off earlier that morning with an open house at Gene Larew Lures in Tulsa, Okla., where visitors can see Bobby Garland crappie baits being manufactured. Everything else throughout the weekend takes place at or around Paradise Cove Marina located within Sequoyah State Park at the lake.

The pro division consists of a two-day tournament during which entrants fishing from boats will compete for a guaranteed minimum first place check of $2,500. After the early bird registration deadline, all other pro entries are subject to the full $150 registration fee.

The family division has a Saturday tournament and a Sunday tournament, allowing teams of up to four family members to sign up for either or both days. The Kids Monster Mash Fishing Derby is for youth under age 13 and takes place on Saturday, Oct. 29, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. The youth event is free.
