In his article, “Deer Depression” Andrew looks at declining deer herd numbers and highlights the leading factors contributing to this decline. “Deer Depression” highlights eight identified threats to the whitetail population, assigning habitat loss and intolerance from many suburban residents who view deer as a nuisance as the biggest threats. Dave Nomsen with Pheasants Forever Declining CRP Acres & Effects on Upland Game

Dave Nomsen is the Vice President for Government Affairs at Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever. He is one of the nation’s loudest voices in support of the Conservation Reserve Program’s wildlife legacy. Since the 1980’s CRP grasslands have benefited pheasants, ducks, deer and other prairie wildlife , but now with cutbacks from the government and high commodity prices many landowners are converting their CRP acres back to crops. Dave talks about the effects declining CRP acres will have on wildlife.
