ROGERS, Ark. (Sept. 14, 2011) – The Walmart Bass Fishing League is headed to Beaver Lake Sept. 24-25 for its fifth and final stop in the Arkie Division. This will be a two-day super tournament where as many as 400 boaters and co-anglers will be competing for top awards up to $11,000 and $4,500, respectively.
“Late September is the toughest time to fish Beaver Lake,” said Pop-Tarts pro and Rogers native Greg Bohannan. ”It’s right in my front yard, and if I had to pick a month, I wouldn’t want it to be September.
“The fish will be scattered, so there will be a little bit of everything including topwater and drop-shotting patterns,” Bohannan added. “I think 10 pounds per day will be extremely strong; the double digit range on that lake, at this time of year, is really good. This will be a really challenging tournament – these guys will have their work cut out for them.”
Takeoffs will be at the Prairie Creek Marina located at 1 Prairie Creek Marina Drive in Rogers at 7 a.m. each morning. Saturday’s weigh-in will be at the marina beginning at 3 p.m., and Sunday’s final weigh-in is scheduled for 4 p.m. at the Walmart located at 2110 W. Walnut St. in Rogers. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.
The Arkie BFL tournament is being hosted by the Bentonville Convention & Visitors Bureau.
The BFL is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers, offering bigger prizes to those who qualify for regional championships and those who make it to one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the Walmart BFL All-American presented by Chevy. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the EverStart Series or even the Walmart FLW Tour.
