Wild About White-tails At The Maine Wildlife Park

GRAY,Maine– The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife encourages people to celebrate National Hunting and Fishing Day this Saturday, September 24, with “Wild About White-tails” at the Maine Wildlife Park.

MDIFW wildlife biologists, game wardens and featured presenters will be on hand from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the park to talk about all things relating to white-tailed deer. Topics will include deer data collection, significant wintering habitat, deer hunting and tracking, photography, books and deer taxidermy. TheMaineWarden Service and Operation Game Thief will also have their “Wall of Shame” exhibit on display.

Admission to the park is free for ages 3 and under; $5.00 for ages 4-12; $7.00 for adults, and $5.00 for seniors. Groups of 15 or more are $3.50 per person.

Owned and operated by MDIFW, theMaineWildlifeParkpromotes understanding and awareness of the Department’s wildlife, conservation and habitat protection programs and projects. The park has over 30 species of native wildlife on display, plus wildlife gardens, nature trails, a fish hatchery and other interactive exhibits and displays. The park is open daily through November 11th from 9:30am-4:30pm; visitors must leave the premises by 6:00pm.

In addition, there will be a 20 percent discount off deer-related purchases at the park’s Nature Store on Saturday.
