Spears Wins Walmart Bass Fishing League Buckeye Division on Ohio River

WHAT: Boater Kevin Spears of New Boston, Ohio, caught a two-day total of 10 bass weighing 21 pounds, 5 ounces Sept. 17-18 to win $3,677 in the Walmart BFL Buckeye Division tournament on the Ohio River. Spears fished in Brush Creek and used a spinnerbait to catch his bass.

WHAT: David Palmer of Sandusky, Ohio, caught a two-day total of six bass weighing 10 pounds, 13 ounces Sept. 17-18 to win $1,839 in the Co-angler Division. Palmer utilized a crankbait to catch his bass.

NOTES: The top 40 boaters and 40 co-anglers based on point standings will qualify for the Oct. 13-15 Regional Championship on Smith Mountain Lake in Huddleston, Va. Boaters will compete for a top award of a Ranger 198VX with a 200-horsepower Evinrude or Mercury outboard and a Chevy pick-up, while co-anglers will fish for a new Ranger 198VX.
