Train Smarter, Not Harder: Retrievers in the Field Captures Working Dogs’ Point-of-View
Quick Dog Productions LLC 09.23.11
Quick Dog Productions is pleased to announce the release of Retrievers in the Field: From a Dog’s Perspective, a visually entertaining full-length DVD that introduces traditional retriever training concepts from the dog’s point-of-view.
Imagine if you could swim with your retriever across a body of water, or run next to your dog through fields, ravines, hills and slopes. Retrievers in the Field takes viewers along for the ride in all types of terrain as the fundamentals of training are depicted using the latest in POV (point-of-view) camera technology.
“We set out to provide the weekend dog trainer, waterfowl hunter and the backyard dog owner with the most dramatic video content that we could create so they could see the world from the dog’s perspective, giving them a better understanding of how the natural environment leads to avoidance and confusion during training,” said producer Larry Saavedra.
“Interpreting how the environment impacts a dog’s ability is a concept used for years by professional trainers. We presented this trusted strategy in a narrative style, so that the average dog owner could get a real picture of how dogs learn to retrieve marks and blinds using their sense. We designed camera systems that allowed us to take the viewer along as the dogs buster cover, swam and ran at full speed in an effort to share an aspect of proper handling that was being mostly overlooked.”
Retrievers in the Field features professional dog trainer and AKC Master National Qualifier Steve of Raney Ranch Retrievers, who shows viewers how dogs react when confronted with big ponds, deadfall, severe slopes, brush and trees. On video, Steve works with a variety of breeds including Labradors, Goldens, Curly Coats, Springer Spaniels, Pointers and even a Blue Healer cattle dog.
Retrievers in the Field is offered in two versions; a waterfowl edition (approx. 5o minutes) and a training bumper edition (approx. 40 minutes). Retrievers in the Field retails for $19.95.
