Lizella, Ga. October 18, 2011 – Due to scheduling conflicts and time constraints with the IFA Championships, the final regular-season tournaments for the IFA Redfish and IFA Kayak Fishing Florida East Coast Division at Fernandina Beach, Fla., is cancelled. The tournament was previously delayed due to severe weather conditions.
“The IFA regrets the unavoidable postponement and ultimate cancellation of the Fernandina event due to severe weather conditions,” said IFA’s Director of Marketing, Bart Schad. “Angler safety is paramount to the IFA. We also want to ensure that those anglers competing for spots in the championship event know that the loss of this tournament will not adversely affect their opportunity to compete for the title.”
Any IFA team/angler that fished the first two Florida East Coast Division events, with the same partner, will automatically receive a bye from the Fernandina Beach event and will be able to compete in the championship in Chalmette, La.,
Any IFA angler who was pre-registered for the IFA Fernandina event as a make-up event outside of their original division will also be granted a bye and be able to participate in the championship.
As a one-time accommodation to our anglers, anglers who need to qualify for the 2011 Championship, we will accept entry fees up until the close of business on Friday, Oct 28, 2011.
“Unfortunately with so little time before the scheduled championships, we could not reschedule the event without major date conflicts”, said Schad. “We believe that granting a bye to the affected group for the championships was the most logical decision. We are looking forward to a great championship in Chalmette,La.”
The IFA wants every eligible angler to participate in the championship tournament. If neither of these two circumstances pertain to an angler but still have questions pertaining to their eligibility in the championship, should contact the IFA office (941-266-5338).
