Chester, Va., October 20, 2011 – Carl Zeiss Sports Optics has expanded its communications team as the company continues to implement its aggressive growth strategy. Robert J. Kaleta has been promoted to Director of Communications and Technical Operations. Formerly Technical Services Manager and Hunting Product Specialist for Zeiss, Kaleta will manage the newly expanded ZEISS communications team while continuing to function in his roles of product development and technical support for North America, especially within the hunting and shooting market segments.
Shannon Jackson of Shannon Jackson Public Relations will continue to serve as the primary ZEISS contact for writers in the hunting and shooting channels.

Jensen, President of Carl Zeiss Sports Optics. “Bob Kaleta’s years of experience as a hunter, avid outdoorsman and optical expert make him an excellent choice for this role. His industry relations with media and other big brand companies are deep.”
Kaleta has been a Carl Zeiss employee for 21 years. Prior to joining the Sports Optics division, he worked for the Carl Zeiss Systems Technology and Rx Lens divisions. Kaleta is an avid hunter with SCI and Boone and Crockett record-book entries. He is well connected with the industry media and has participated in numerous outdoor radio and television interviews. He has also participated in many industry hunts and has excellent relationships within the guide and outfitter community.
Kaleta enjoys wilderness hunting, long-distance shooting, handgun hunting and an outdoor lifestyle with his family. He is also a member of the NRA, SCI, SCI North American Handgun Hunter’s Chapter, and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.
