Alligator Gar Stocked in Bee Lake in Mississippi

   10.25.11

Jackson, Missi, – Recent flooding of the Mississippi River has allowed Asian carp access to many state waters. The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks has stocked alligator gar into Bee Lake, Holmes County, in effort to control the Asian carp population.  Bee Lake will be followed for several years to evaluate changes in fish populations.  The commercial harvest of alligator gar is prohibited in Bee Lake.  The Fisheries Bureau is asking anglers to report any catches of tagged alligator gar at 601-432-2400.
