Also, at pavilion four there will be a noon event that will include speakers, lunch, the cache contest winners and the announcement of the cache coordinates. Attending this event will get you a 24 hour head start on geocachers waiting for the coordinates to be placed on the website.
The Challenge
The Alabama Geocaching Challenge will consist of caches in each of our 22 state parks. To complete the challenge you will have to visit each park and locate the cache. All of our caches are not easy to access. There is a reason we are calling this a challenge. Finding the cache, in many cases, is just the beginning. Each cache will contain clues, a first finder’s prize and a log book. Document the clues because you will need them to get through the grand finale, a puzzle cache located at the lodge at Lakepoint Resort State Park. Once you have completed the Challenge and successfully opened the Puzzle Cache, you will be rewarded a specially designed and produced Alabama State Parks Geocaching coin. Most of our caches will be kid friendly, meaning there will be interesting items in the caches for the kids. But remember, if you take a prize; leave a prize so those behind you will have something waiting for them.
A second coin is being produced that will be sold in the State Parks Gift Shops. This coin will come in two versions. A trackable and non-trackable coin.
Make plans to attend this exciting kick-off event today. For reservations call Lakepoint Resort State Park Lodge at 334-687-8011. We hope to see you there!
