Pro Circuit-sponsored riders are getting ready to embark on the 2012 FIM World Motocross Championship season, which kicks off April 9 at Valkenswaard, in the Netherlands. Team Floride’s Tommy Searle and Joel Roelants, Team CP377’s Christophe Pourcel and Sebastien Pourcel, and others such as Frentec Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Dave Versluis and Roan van de Moosdijk (racing on the junior team) have been preparing all winter for the grueling series, and will be traveling across the globe in their quest for worldwide motocross greatness. Also joining the team is Maxime Desprey, the current points leader in the 2012 French Motocross Championship. He will be representing the team in the French and European MX2 Championships.
CHRISTOPHE POURCEL – MX1, TEAM CP377
A former FIM MX2 World Champion and two-time AMA Supercross Lites Champion, Pourcel is no stranger to winning. He will be racing in the 2012 FIM World MX1 Championship, along with his brother and teammate, Sebastien, and is planning on taking the series one race at a time.
“I have been training in the South of France, next to Marseille. I feel very good, and I like my bike,” said Pourcel. “Training here is great for me. I have a nice, sandy track and can prepare for the GP in good conditions. The season will be hard, but I feel ready. My expectations are to try and get as many points as possible at every race (and) we’ll see what happens after the last round! My favorite track this year will be Bulgaria, Selvievo.”
SEBASTIEN POURCEL – MX1, TEAM CP377
Sebastien Pourcel is returning from a serious injury sustained in Canada Heights at the second round of the 2011 British Motocross Championship – a race that occurred before the start of the 2011 FIM World MX1 Championship. The injury removed him from the 2011 series, but he’s been working hard to make a comeback in 2012.
“I was training harder and harder this winter, and I am now back after injury,” said Pourcel. “I feel good on the bike. I had some great motos in the French Championship. I know that’s not the same level as GP, but it’s good to build up some confidence. I don’t have any particular expectations for this season—I’m just going to do my best and try to have fun. I’m most excited to race St. Jean D Angely in France.”
TOMMY SEARLE – MX2, TEAM FLORIDE
Hailing from Great Britain, Searle is no stranger to the Motocross GP scene. He finished third overall in the 2011 FIM World MX2 Championship, and is planning to win in 2012. This will be his last year in the class.
“I spent my winter in California—I had all that I needed. My mechanic was with me, and I had great support from Mitch and Pro Circuit,” said Searle. “I tested a lot and I am very confident with my bike. We made some great improvements and I like it! I definitely feel ready now. I’m expecting to win! I’m most excited to race the British GP. That race is always special for me. I have a lot of fans over there and I like the track a lot.”
JOEL ROELANTS – MX2, TEAM FLORIDE
22-year-old Belgian native Roelants has earned numerous MX2 podiums over the past few seasons, and is considered one of the best sand riders in the world. He will be bringing this experience to the MX2 class one last year before moving to MX1 next year, and is feeling very confident aboard his Pro Circuit machine.
“I spent almost the entire winter training in the sand and getting used to the Kawasaki. The results are amazing, and the Pro Circuit bikes are so strong and safe,” said Roelants. “I also spent some days in Portugal with Kees Vanderven—it was great. I had some good races in the Dutch Championship, and I’m ready to get going for the GP. My expectations for this year are to just do my best for my team, my sponsors and my fans. I’ll try to get as many podiums as possible. As far as my favorite track, I like all of them—I can’t wait!”
MAXIME DESPREY – MX2, TEAM NGS
Desprey will be representing the team in the MX2 French and European GP Championships, and is excited about joining such a talented group of riders.
“It s like a dream for me to join a team supported by Pro Circuit,” said Desprey. “For sure I will do my best to make everybody proud of me. This winter I trained very hard with my coach and manager Bruno Losito in northern France. We worked pretty hard on physical conditioning. The bikes are amazing, really strong and safe. Now I am leading the MX2 French Championship in front of GP riders! I can t believe this. I have to stay focused and keep on working. I want to win the European Championship this year, and I will do my best. I look forward to step up into GP classes next year! My favorite track is St Jean D Angely. I don’t know if it’s because of the French fans or because of the amazing track.”
