Roczen Finished Fifth in New Orleans

Red Bull/KTM rider Ken Roczen rounded off a good ride in the penultimate round of the AMA East Supercross Lites Series in the Louisiana Superdome New Orleans but arm pump let him slip from third to fifth in the closing stages of the race.

The young German teenager breezed through the day at the top of the leader board during the afternoon practice sessions to clock fastest qualifying time. He went on to grab the holeshot and led every lap for a comfortable heat win.

Then in the main he got away at sixth from the gate and maintained that position for the first two laps as the final rider in a six-man train for the lead. He passed Alex Martin on the third lap to take over fifth and got handed another position a few laps later after fellow KTM rider Malcolm Stewart crashed.

Around the mid-way point Roczen was able to capitalize on a mistake by Justin Barcia to take over third position. He held on to the position for two laps but then a mistake cost him two positions. After that, while arm pump hindered his lap times he was still able to hang on to finish inside the top five at the end of the fifteenth lap main.

Ken Roczen: “I am bummed that I got arm pump at the end of the race because I was riding really well today and felt very comfortable on the track. We have one race left and my goal is to win it. I really like the final round in Las Vegas and I am looking forward to a great performance to end the season.”
