Sportsman Channel’s Hunt.Fish.Feed. initiative is stopping at Pine Street Inn shelter in Boston’s South End to help feed local residents in need on Sunday, May 20, starting at 2:30 pm ET. Hunt.Fish.Feed. is a unique outreach program that taps an underutilized food source—game meat and fish donated by sportsmen—to feed those struggling with hunger across America. Sportsman is partnering locally with The Cable Show 2012 to help organize, staff and transport volunteers. Numerous Cable Show attendees, along with local and state elected officials, are attending to help with the volunteer efforts.
The event will utilize venison to make tasty and nutritious tacos for local citizens in need. The fare is donated by local sportsmen from the region in cooperation with Sportsman Channel and Mule Deer Foundation. For more information on Hunt.Fish.Feed., please visit www.huntfishfeed.org.
“We’re excited to partner with NCTA and The Cable Show to bring our Hunt.Fish.Feed. initiative to the Boston community,” said Todd Hansen, COO and founder of the Hunt.Fish.Feed program for Sportsman Channel. “Hunt.Fish.Feed. provides thousands of people nationwide with nutrient-rich game meat and fish, and we have served many thousands of meals since our inception. ”
“We are very grateful for the support of the Sportsman Channel and their Hunt.Fish.Feed. inititative.,” said Lyndia Downie, President of Pine Street Inn. “We applaud the generosity and community spirit of groups like this, which help us meet the pressing needs of Boston’s homeless men and women,” she added.
Sportsman Channel embarked on a multi-city Hunt.Fish.Feed. tour in January, which will travel to approximately 10 U.S. cities to feed the needy and bring awareness to the fight against hunger in 2012. The initiative has fed more than 13,000 meals since 2007.
