After a fast start following the second tournament of the 2012 season, the third event on Lake Livingston was another smashing success for the Texas Team Trail presented by Cabela’s. The 93,000-plus acre reservoir held enough weight for Brandon Dickenson and Ryan McGrail to capture first place with 19.54 pounds.
With the win, the duo won a Triton 18 SE with Evinrude 150 HO. The prize pack is valued at $25,000. Dickenson of Flower Mound, Texas and McGrail of Killeen Texas each had an outstanding event.
“The fishing was great,” said Dickenson. “We were on fish for most of the entire day. The Texas Team Trail has been a great bass tournament trail. It is put together well and hasn’t disappointed yet. We look forward to finishing out the season and ending it on Lake Amistad.”
Longview, Texas resident James Martin and Round Rock, Texas resident Terry Stevens slid into second place with a bag of 16.45 pounds. The second place finishers came away with $5,260 of total winnings, which included $3,5000 cash payout, $1,260 Angler Advantage payout, $250 Stratos contingency and $250 Mercury contingency. In third place, with 16.42 pounds, anglers Jeff Reynolds and Rendall Bruce walked away with a final payout of $3,692, which included $2,100 cash payout, $1,092 Angler Advantage payout and the Cabela’s Anglers Cash of $500.
“We were Texas-rigging soft plastics in 2-3 feet of water,” said Martin. Most of our fishing took place in Kickapoo Creek, and for the most part everything went as planned. Right now, I look at the team tournament trails out there and the Texas Team Trail is hard to beat. They’ve got great sponsors, entry fees are cheap and they are fun to fish.”
The Lake Livingston event was the third of four 2012 qualifying events that guarantee a fully-rigged, 18’ tournament equipped bass boat package as first place prize – in this case a Triton 18SE with 150 hp Evinrude outboard. Payouts
