High Water Forecast Cancels “Rendezvous on the River” Event in West Virgina

“Rendezvous on the River,” scheduled on Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park May 10-12, is cancelled due to a wet weather forecast and high water conditions on the Ohio River at Parkersburg, W.Va. “Rendezvous” is an annual re-creation of an early-American settler’s outpost.

“The re-enactors who organize the events made the decision to cancel this event,” said Pam Salisbury, park spokeswoman. “The concern is the river will continue to rise and the volunteer muzzleloaders and mountain-men and women re-enactors would set up, only to find it necessary to disassemble the campsites, demonstration areas and camp life areas due to high water. This is such an interesting and educational event and I am disappointed that the weather has led to this cancellation.”
