Nebraska Game and Parks asks Nebraskans to Donate to Hunters Helping the Hungry

Hunters and nonhunters alike can donate to fund the new Hunters Helping the Hungry program, which encourages hunters to give harvested deer to participating processors to feed Nebraskans in need.
Beginning May 21, hunters can donate money when filling out a Nebraska Big Game Application form. Just look for the shaded box in the upper left corner of the form. Hunters also may donate when purchasing hunt permits electronically. Anyone soon will be able to make a tax-deductable donation through the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission’s website.
The program got a boost May 16 when the following Omaha businesses donated a combined $30,000: the Metropolitan Utilities District, Northern Natural Gas, Tenaska Marketing Ventures, CBSHome, Woods Brothers Realty, HomeServices of America, Inc., and HOME Real Estate, as well as the David Scott Foundation.
Donated funds will cover deer processing and other program costs. Hunters Helping the Hungry was created in April with the Nebraska Legislature’s passage of LB 928.
