CollegiateBassChampionship.com to Offer Expanded Championship Coverage

Fans of college fishing are going to have plenty of content to browse from the nation’s largest collegiate bass fishing event ever held. The Association of Collegiate Anglers, in collaboration with key partners, are going to be offering expanded online coverage of the 2012 BoatUS Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship as the event unfolds. Hot links directly to Championship coverage will be located in the header of every page of CollegiateBassChampionship.com, starting Monday, May 21, 2012.

The coverage will include the “From the Water Blog”, powered by Hydrowave, which will fire up on Monday and get progressively busier as the week transpires; including regular updates throughout the day once competition begins Thursday. Professional photographers will be on hand to provide daily photo galleries, beginning with the registration banquet Wednesday evening, and continuing through Friday’s weigh-in. Fans will also be able to see the weigh-in live, courtesy of The Bass Federation, which will be streaming as the teams cross the stage and load up the scales. Event staff will also be using Facebook extensively throughout event week to reach over 4,000 fans on Facebook.com/CollegiateBassChampionship.

According to Tournament Director, Wade Middleton, “200 teams will be battling it out on Lake Pickwick next week and we know each team has friends, family, and fellow teammates that will be anxious to find out how they are doing. Thanks to the support of our partners, we’ll be able to make these folks feel like they are part of the action via our website, CollegiateBassChampionship.com, as well as our Facebook page. With photos, regular updates from the water, and a live weigh-in, we’re getting the fans as close to Florence, Alabama as we possibly can. ”

BoatUS Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship activities kick off Tuesday, May 22, with Yamaha Angler Appreciation Night at McFarland Park, where students will be treated to dinner with Yamaha pros, demo rides, and service support courtesy of Yamaha and Ranger. Official onsite registration, starting at 2:30 pm on Wednesday, May 23, includes a sponsor reception featuring over twenty corporate partners, a banquet dinner, and keynote speakers prior to the pre-tournament meeting. Competition takes place Thursday and Friday with collegiate anglers launching daily at McFarland Park with weigh-ins to start at 2:30 pm. Weigh-ins are free and open to the public at McFarland Park, so fans are also encouraged to come and see this historic event firsthand. The collegiate team with the heaviest weight over the course of two competition days will be crowned National Champions at an awards ceremony immediately following the weigh-in on Friday.
