Project Wild and Wet Workshop Offered in Southeast Ohio
OutdoorHub 05.23.12
Teachers, scout leaders, naturalists, and other formal and non-formal educators interested in conservation and environmental education should consider attending a combined Project WILD & WET workshop, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife.
Project WILD is a supplementary education program emphasizing awareness, appreciation, and understanding of wildlife and natural resources. Attractive and easy to use, Project WILD is an ideal way to supplement your curriculum and fire the imagination of your students. Project WILD teaches young people how to think about wildlife, not what to think. The hands-on, diverse activities help develop problem-solving and decision making skills in determining responsible human actions.
The Project WET Foundation is dedicated to reaching children, parents, teachers, and community members of the world with water education. Project WET workshops are designed to create opportunities for participants to network and share implementation ideas, and also to encourage participants to translate knowledge into communication and action.
The next workshop in southeast Ohio is being offered on Tuesday, June 5th from 9:00am to 4:00pm at the Wildlife District 4 Office, located at 360 E. State Street, Athens, Ohio 45701. The registration fee is $24 to cover the cost of the new 2011 revised Project WET manual. All Project WILD materials are provided free of charge by the ODNR Division of Wildlife. You will receive certification in both the Project WILD and Project WET national acclaimed programs. Participants are encouraged to bring a brown bag lunch, but local fast-food options are available.
Project WILD guides, Aquatic WILD guides, Project WET guides and other related information will be distributed.
