Grizzly Bear Death in Big Sky, Montana Under Investigation
OutdoorHub 05.27.12
Agents from the US Fish and Wildlife Service along with Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks Enforcement are investigating the death of a grizzly bear today in the Big Sky area.
At around 7:30 a.m., a resident of Big Sky shot an adult boar (male) approximately 5 to 6 ½ years old. The bear was killed. A necropsy is being conducted at the state wildlife laboratory in Bozeman. The incident is still under investigation.
Because grizzly bears remain listed as an endangered species, incidents involving unnatural death require a joint investigation by federal and state authorities.
