Trout Bum Debuts on iTunes

“Ozark Trout Bum,” a new podcast about freshwater trout fishing, is now available on iTunes. In the inaugural episode, host Steve Brigman welcomes Alaskan guide and seasonal Ozark resident, Duane Doty, along with Arkansas artist and flyfishing guide Duane Hada.

“These guys were a slam dunk for the first show,” Brigman said. “They are both superb anglers who shared a ton of good information and were fun to have on the show.”

Trout Bum also features “Strategies for Success:” a how-to segment with veteran White River guide John Berry. The first “Focus on Conservation” features fisheries management biologist Mark Van Patten discussing Missouri’s recent ban on felt-sole wading boots.

Doty spends the summer fishing season guiding for Alaska’s Crystal Creek Lodge, hanging out the rest of the year in Branson, Mo., fishing and guiding on Lake Taneycomo. He passes many of his winter days tying patterns he devised for Naknek River trout.

Duane Hada grew up with his brother Ken on the banks of Arkansas’ Buffalo River. Duane developed into one of the Ozark’s finest artists, and Dr. Ken Hada, professor in the Department of English and languages at East Central University in Oklahoma, established himself as an award-winning poet and scholar. In their new book, “The River White” the brothers combine their talents for a journey of poetry and watercolors from the White River’s source to its confluence with the Mississippi. The first Ozark Trout Bum includes readings by Ken Hada from the book.
