NRA Museum Designs for Missouri’s Bass Pro Shops

Pinned to the National Firearms Museum‘s office walls are designs for Bass Pro Shops headquarters in Missouri. Scheduled to open early next year, the headquarters will include a 7,000 square foot exhibit of sporting arms. It will, in fact, be a satellite branch of the NRA National Firearms Museum.

“An exciting aspect of this exhibit is that it allows us to share some of the spectacular sporting arms we have here in Virginia,” said Museum Director Jim Supica. “Having a satellite branch in the Midwest also means that more people will have the opportunity to see the wonderful pieces donated to the NRA over the years.”

A number of the guns and antiques slotted for Missouri are already on display inside the National Firearms Museum. Others will come from the Museum vault. And that’s where the excitement level starts to rise.

“Our exhibit floor is roughly fifteen thousand square feet,” explained Supica. “The displays, unfortunately, are full. So when the Bass Pro Shops exhibits opens in Missouri, that will free up space here in Virginia.”

With the design portion of the Bass Pro Shop exhibits complete — now in the hands of architects, construction crews and pinned to the walls — the curators can begin working on the new exhibits for the museum here. But will there be enough guns to go around?

“We have enough guns to go around,” Supcia assured. “And thanks to this new opening, we’ll be able to create new exhibits, rotate displays from one location to another, increase the Hollywood Guns collection and more. The possibilities are endless.”
