The Vancouver based Asia tour operator, Chinapac International, announces their newest China Tour of the Grand Yangtze. With two scheduled departure dates in 2012 and 2013 this tour is the perfect way to experience Eastern China and the largest water system in China, the Yangtze River.
“We are pleased to offer this Grand Yangtze tour which features an 8 night cruise on the newly renovated Victoria Sophia,” said Chinapac President Jenny Soares. “The 17 day tour visits seven cities: Shanghai, Suzhou, Wuxi, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Mt. Huangshan, Wuhan and highlights each city’s unique connection to the Yangtze River, scenic views, local shopping and cuisine”.
The tour begins in Shanghai’s Old Quarters. With the mouth of the Yangtze River pouring into the East China Sea in the distance, a Shanghai City Tour of the Bund, Chenghuangmiao Old Town Bazaar, Silk Rug Factory, and Nanjing Road is an excellent introduction to the local trade merchandise and rich cultural history in Eastern China.
The tour continues with an afternoon bus ride to Suzhou where participants will ride a boat along the canals of Shantang Street; visit the Singapore Industrial Park, Suzhou Little Bird’s Nest, and animated Jinji Lake Square.
Dubbed the “Pearl of Lake Taihu”, Wuxi’s scenic setting and panoramic views of Lake Taihu and the Yangtze are sure to please any visitor. Indulge in a special Qianlong Banquet Dinner in this gorgeous setting after visiting the Xihui Park and Red Porcelain Tea Pot Factory. This city tour culminates with a trip to Taihu Lake Fresh Water Pearl Factory for every guest’s very own “Pearl of Lake Taihu”.
Rich with natural beauty, Hangzhou’s West Lake boasts numerous temples, pagodas, gardens, and artificial islands. Guests will walk the Long Bridge Park, visit the Green Tea Plantation and enjoy Hangzhou cuisine and entertainment.
The program’s hidden gem is the 8 nights cruise on the Yangtze River featuring the newly renovated 5-star Victoria Sophia cruiser. The largest five star ship on the Yangtze, The Victoria Sophia will sail to one of nature’s most exquisite sculptures: the Three Gorges region. The Three Gorges region is home to the world’s largest hydroelectric dam. Surrounded by ancient Chinese settlements, the Three Gorges Dam is known for its odd, misty rock formations and soaring mountain backdrops.
The final stops in the program are in the “ghost city” of Fengdu on Mingshan Hill and Chongqing. Explore this fascinating river town, decorated with temples and shrines dedicated to the gods of the underworld and enjoy a tour of the amazing Dazu Carving and the Stilwell Museum in Chongqing.
The program is also full of other exciting cultural performances, activities and breath taking scenic views. Additionally, it features centrally located 4 star hotels, balcony cabins on the Victoria Sophia and international air tickets.
Departures for 2012 are scheduled for November 4. The 2013 departure date is March 31. 17 Day Grand Yangtze Discovery air and land package starts at just $2899.
