Knoxville, Tenn., to Host OWAA 2014 Conference

Have you ever wanted to visit the purple hills and sunny bended skies of Tennessee, as described in “My homeland, Tennessee,” the state’s first official song? Outdoor Writers Association of America invites you to join them in Knoxville, Tenn., for their 2014 conference that will feature three jam-packed days of professional growth and outdoor opportunities. The June 27-29, 2014, conference will be located on the Tennessee River at the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains.
The Knoxville Tourism & Sports Corporation looks forward to welcoming OWAA members to the area. Knoxville offers the best of both worlds: A quaint urban center with all the amenities of city life, including urban parks, gardens and walking paths; plus close proximity to national parks and wilderness. Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the nation’s most visited park with more than nine million visitors annually, is located just 40 miles from downtown Knoxville. The city’s southeastern U.S. locale makes it easy for attendees to explore unique and exciting opportunities. Knoxville is located within a single day drive of approximately two-thirds of the U.S. population.
The host hotel for the 2014 conference is the Holiday Inn World’s Fair Park, which boasts $109/night room rates that include breakfast and ample parking. The newly renovated hotel is located just across the street from the Knoxville Convention Center, a state-of-the-art convention center that will host all conference sessions and meals. Demo Day will be held right outside the convention center on the lawn of World’s Fair Park and Shooting Day will be hosted just a short distance away at the John Sevier Hunter Education Center. Other opportunities include the Ijams Nature Center just three miles from the hotel.
This is one conference location that will not fail to excite and inspire all attendees with its phenomenal list of historical and adventurous sites and activities.
