Roczen and Musquin Claim 3rd and 5th Overall at High Point

Red Bull/KTM Factory riders Ken Roczen and Marvin Musquin finish 3rd and 5th overall in the 250 Motocross class at the fourth round of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship Series at High Point Raceway.

In the morning practice session Marvin Musquin claimed the Oakley Bomb award by posting the fastest lap in practice to earn first gate pick in moto 1. His teammate, Ken Roczen, followed to nab the second spot.

Roczen had a respectable start coming through the first lap in tenth. He passed two riders on lap two to take over 8th and pushed through the pack to find himself in 5th by the fourth lap. He soon made his way up to 4th, but was unable to hold off Eli Tomac and went back to 5th. Roczen held his position for the remainder of the race to finish a solid 5th in the first moto.

His teammate, Musquin, had a better start, seeing the first corner in 5th. Marvin held onto his position until the fourth lap, when he was passed by Roczen. He maintained his position and finished moto 1 behind his teammate in 6th.

Roczen got the holeshot of the second moto and raced to the early lead. Roczen had a 9 second gap by the halfway mark with Justin Barcia in 2ndbattling with Eli Tomac in 3rd behind him. He had a small crash, but got up without loosing a position. At two laps to go, Roczen was feeling the pressure of Tomac. With lapped traffic hindering their path, Roczen was not able to hold off Tomac for the lead. He crossed the checkers in 2nd in moto two. His 5-2 moto finishes earned him 3rd overall in the 250 Motocross Class.

Musquin got another great start in the second moto and came out of the first turn in 4th. He was working hard to maintain his position with Tomac hitting his strides coming up behind him. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to hold off Tomac and moved back one spot to 5th. He settled into position the next few laps and was able to move into 4th on lap 11. Musquin finished moto two in 4th. With 4-6 moto finishes, Musquin ended the day 5th overall.
