Sportsman Channel to Debut “Boone and Crockett Country”

The question isn’t what did that buck score? The real question is how did that big deer get there in the first place? Telling the story of historic conservation successes is the hallmark of “Boone and Crockett Country,” an award-winning television series with a new network, new host and a new season’s worth of adventure and discovery.

“Boone and Crockett Country” debuts June 27 at 6:30 p.m. EST on Sportsman Channel, the leader in outdoor TV for the American sportsman.

Shane Mahoney, the highly sought speaker, internationally renowned biologist, conservation advocate and professional member of Boone and Crockett Club, is the show’s new host.

“The story of North American conservation is truly one of the greatest achievements in the history of mankind, yet this story is relatively unknown to many sportsmen, not taught in our schools, and completely lost to non-hunters and the vast majority of our policymakers,” said Mahoney. “With human population growth and increasing demands on natural resources, if our wildlife and sporting heritage are to survive, this story of conservation must be told and celebrated as an example of what is possible when citizens care. Only this can save what is ultimately important to all of us—a healthy and sustainable environment in which people can live, work and play.”

Each episode of “Boone and Crockett Country” will cover issues of critical importance to those who cherish the traditions of hunting, and the great animals we pursue. The series will inform and inspire today’s sportsmen, make them aware of the history of conservation and the critical roles that hunting must play in sustaining wildlife resources for the future.

“Sportsmen led the first environmental revolution in North America and are positioned to lead the next, but they must be knowledgeable about their achievements and able to relay these stories to the public,” added Mahoney.

Viewers will also see hunting action ranging from a spot-and-stalk pursuit of black bear in British Columbia to joining a lucky recipient of a special elk tag in Pennsylvania.

“Boone and Crockett Country,” in 2011 voted Best Conservation Series on a different outdoor TV network and the winner of a Bronze Telly Award for outstanding production, promises a new and exciting look at the sportsman’s world in 2012.

Starting with the premiere on June 27, the series will air three times a week through the end of December. Airtimes include Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. EST, Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. EST and Sundays at 10:00 a.m. EST.

“Boone and Crockett Country” sponsors include Leupold, Buck Knives, Dallas Safari Club, Wild Sheep Foundation and Pope & Young Club.
