Fisheries Chief Appointed Vice President of American Fisheries Society

Ron Essig, fisheries program chief for the Division of Wildlife and Sport Fish Restoration, was recently elected second vice president of the American Fisheries Society (AFS), the largest professional society for fisheries biologists in the world. Essig will begin his term as second vice president this coming summer and in 2016 he will advance to president of the AFS. This is a prestigious position and a testament to Essig’s leadership and commitment to the field of fisheries conservation.
