Swordfish Takes Man Overboard, Anglers Land the Fish and a Film Festival Award

This video was shot by Captain Nick Stanczyk’s as he and one of Bn’M charterboat’s mates struggle with a big swordfish. At one point the fish yanks the mate over the edge of the boat. The mate manages to hang on to the gaff and comes through the video with nothing damage except perhaps his pride.

Later, Stancyk entered the footage in the inaugural Islamorada Fishing Film Festival (based in Islamorada, Florida) and won top honors. In addition to the fish, Stanczyk landed a Horizon VHF radion, dinner for four at Outback Stakehouse, and a signed copy of Doug Kelly’s Florida’s Fishing Legends and Pioneers.
