Traveling to the NRA Rifle & Pistol Championships
NRAblog 07.08.12
Lorton, Virginia – Today we hit the road for Camp Perry. Where the 2012 NRA National Rifle and Pistol Championships will kick off tomorrow with the First Shot Ceremony. Where over the next few weeks, competitors from all across the nation, all across the world, will travel to test their best with the best in the world.
First comes the pistol shooters, then the smallbore, and wrapping up with the high power. Five different championships in all when you throw in the different designations in smallbore (3-position and prone) and high power (high power and long range high power).
The matches begin with a battle of Champions. Top Shot runner up Brian Zins returns with the quest to take home his eleventh Pistol title. Standing in his way will be 2011 Pistol Champion Philip Hemphill along with the likes of James Henderson, John Zurek and others.
Until then, we’ll twist our way from Virginia to Ohio in hopes of arriving on time. Either way, it promises to be an exciting six weeks and a heck of a long drive.
