This Week on The Revolution: Hunter Based Wolf Management

With fall hunting seasons approaching it’s not just deer hunters that are itching to hit the woods, a large number of hunters are ready to head out in pursuit of the very controversial gray wolf. This week Jim & Trav talk fact and fiction when it comes to wolves with Joe Maurier, the director of Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks , David Allen with the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Ryan Benson with Big Game Forever and more!

David Allen – Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation

With wolf populations well about federal recovery goals and increasing the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation has been a long time advocate for regulated hunter-based wolf management. While controversy stirs over the hunting of wolves, reports show that other threatened big game species like the elk are in substantial danger due to this growing predator population. David Allen, President of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation talks about the impact of wolves and decimating elk populations.

Ryan Benson – Big Game Forever

Ryan Benson is the founder of Big Game Forever and he tells Jim and Trav that wolf overpopulation is dramatically damaging and even eliminating entire populations of moose, elk and other large game animal populations. He’ll talk about the overall impact wolf overpopulation and predation is having on conservationists decades of effort to rebuild and restore wildlife herds.

Joe Maurier – Montana Director of Fish, Wildlife and Parks

More than 6,500 people weighed in on proposed changes to Montana’s 2012/2013 wolf hunting and trapping seasons during a recent Fish, Wildlife and Parks Commission meeting. Director of Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks – Joe Maurier – talks with Jim and Trav about the outcome of that meeting that will now allowing wolf trapping in Montana, increasing bag limits for hunters.

Country Music Artist – Josh Thompson

Josh Thompson is a well known country music artist and talks with Jim and Trav about some of his music. However, maybe even more intriguing is his past studying forestry, fish and wildlife management and the nine months he spent living off the land deep in the woods using only mother nature to survive!
