Maine DIFW Encouraging People to Sign Up for Email Blast System
OutdoorHub 07.20.12
The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife is encouraging people to sign up for an email blast system that will enable them to get the latest news, license, registration and upcoming event information from the department as soon as it becomes available.
Signing up for GovDelivery, a tool designed specifically to help government agencies communicate with the public, is easy and can be customized to only deliver information the subscriber is interested in receiving.
Subscribers to the free service can choose whether they want to receive updates from six categories – Information and Education, Fisheries, Licensing, Warden Service, Wildlife and Social Media Updates – and 34 subcategories that include fisheries news and reports, fish stocking, hunting seasons and regulations, safety and education courses and Warden Service news, reports or career opportunities.
In the last month, the system has been used to send out reminders of the upcoming deadline to apply for the any-deer permit lottery, information for a weekend wildlife event and a news release about the increased attendance this year at the Maine Wildlife Park.
The Department first started using the tool in December 2011 and nearly 164,000 subscribers have signed up for the service so far.
Subscribing requires only a valid email address and password and subscribers can choose how often they wish to receive updates, change selections or unsubscribe at any time.
The Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife is one of hundreds of federal, state and local agencies using GovDelivery, including the Maine Department of Transportation, Maine Department of Labor and the Maine Emergency Management Agency.
To sign up for this service, go the Department’s homepage at www.mefishwildlife.com and enter your email address on the left side under the envelope icon that says “Get Notified.”
