Grizzly Bear Trapped and Moved from Montana’s Flescher Pass Area

Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP) wildlife staff relocated a grizzly bear last week that killed two domestic lambs near Flescher Pass, southeast of Lincoln.

USDA Wildlife Services crews trapped the 350 pound male grizzly on Aug. 1, in response to its confirmed livestock depredations. FWP collared and relocated the bear the next day to a remote area in northwest Montana’s Flathead National Forest.

FWP Bear Management Specialist, Jamie Jonkel, says that this was the bear’s first offense with livestock, so crews decided to relocate it, with hopes that it will regain focus on natural food sources.
