Fall Turkey Hunting Permits Available in Nebraska

Hunters will have an extra month of fall turkey hunting opportunities this season. Permits now are available at OutdoorNebraska.org and Nebraska Game and Parks Commission permitting offices.

The fall season has been extended by a month, as the season now runs Sept. 15-Jan. 31, 2013.

A fall turkey permit is valid statewide and allows a hunter to harvest two turkeys of either sex with a shotgun or archery equipment. Each hunter may have up to two permits.

Turkey permits cost $24 for residents, $91 for nonresidents and $6 for resident or nonresident youth age 15 and younger. There is no minimum age requirement for youth.

Those hunting turkeys during the November firearm deer season (Nov. 10-18) must wear at least 400 square inches of hunter orange on their head, chest and back.
