Online Registration Open for Northwest Montana Hunter Education Courses

Online registration is now open for northwest Montana Hunter Education Courses. Beginning this year, everyone must register online for the courses specified below.

To register online go to the FWP website at http://fwp.mt.gov and follow the links through Education and Hunter Education to find the course near you.  All course schedules and complete information will be found at the online registration site.  Students must register well before the first night of class; registration date deadlines for each course are also found online.

Students must pick up a copy of the hunter education manual and other pre-course materials at Montana Fish Wildlife & Parks headquarters at 490 North Meridian Road, or at other locations as specified in the online site for each course.  Students must read the manual and complete the exercises at the end of each chapter by the first night of class.

Classes begin on the following dates:

  • Eureka: Sept 6
  • Trego: Sept 10
  • Polson: Sept 10
  • Columbia Falls: Sept 11
  • Bigfork: Sept 12
  • Kalispell: Sept 17
  • Marion: Sept 17

Everyone born after Jan. 1, 1985, must complete a hunter education course before buying a hunting license in Montana.  Only individuals 11 years of age or older at the day of sign-up may be certified upon successfully completing the course.  The course is free of charge.
