Becoming an Outdoors-Woman Intro to Trapping Workshop Set for Sept. 29 in Concord, New Hampshire

The New Hampshire Becoming an Outdoors-Woman program and the New Hampshire Trappers Association are teaming up to present a one-day Introduction to Trapping workshop on Saturday, September 29, 2012, from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department in Concord, N.H. The session is a chance to learn the basics of trapping and dispel common myths about an activity that has important benefits for wildlife and society.

The cost of the workshop is $25, which includes instruction, program materials, use of demonstration equipment, plus a continental breakfast and lunch. The course is open to women and men age 18 or older. Please note that this workshop does not certify participants in trapper education. For more information, call 603-271-3212.
Participants will gain an understanding of trapping as a necessary technique in the control of animal populations. The course will cover habitats of furbearing animals such as beaver, coyote, fisher, fox, mink, muskrat, otter and raccoon. You’ll also learn how to identify various furbearers and their tracks. Hands-on training will be provided, including how to set traps in the ground or under water, fine-tuning the trap, and setting a trap line.
