Free Youth Shooting Event Scheduled August 30 at Montana’s Glasgow Trap Club

A free youth shooting and archery skills event is scheduled for Aug. 30 at the Glasgow Trap Club.

The event — which will include clay pigeon, turkey silhouette and air gun shooting stations, as well as an archery range — is open to area youths ranging from fourth graders to high school seniors. Registration begins onsite at 5 p.m., and the field events will start at 5:30. The event ends at dark.

Shotguns, ammunition, targets and archery equipment will be provided at no cost, and participants may bring their own firearms and ammunition if they prefer. Each station will be fully staffed by qualified instructors.

A barbeque will also take place. The meal will be free for participating youths, but adults who wish to eat will be asked for a free-will offering to help cover expenses. A variety of prizes will be awarded to participants, and additional volunteers are invited to attend.

The Youth Day activities are co-sponsored by local chapters of Ducks Unlimited and the National Wild Turkey Federation, as well as the Glasgow Trap Club and the Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife & Parks.

The Glasgow Trap Club is located off Skylark Road on the west side of Glasgow toward the Sunnyside Golf & Country Club. For more information, call Ed Sugg at 406-230-2033 or Ron Selden at 406-228-3700.
