Vermont Fish & Wildlife Offers New Workshop for Range Operators

The Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department urges Fish & Game club officers and anyone with responsibility for an outdoor shooting range to attend the upcoming Shooting Range Operations and Management seminar on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at the Barre Fish and Game Club.
The department is sponsoring this free, day-long seminar to keep range operators up-to-date on the latest developments in shooting range management. Experts from the NRA’s Range Technical Team will build on information presented from two previous seminars and review new resources to keep your club and range thriving well into the future. Topics will include ricochet, noise and the new, updated NRA Range Sourcebook. Time will also be set aside for participants to discuss their range issues with the Range Technical Team.
“The Future of hunting in Vermont is dependent on the availability of safe, environmentally-friendly shooting ranges,” said Fish and Wildlife Commissioner Patrick Berry. “Our department is committed to doing everything we can to foster responsible range management and look forward to helping clubs, towns and organizations in this effort. This is really a must-attend event.”
Overseeing a range is not a requirement for participation. Municipalities and other organizations interested in range management are encouraged to attend.
The course will run from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. A continental breakfast, lunch and snacks will be provided. All participants will receive the new, updated NRA Range Source Book. Pre-registration is required.
The department, along with Vermont lawmakers and a number of sporting organizations have been working together to enhance shooting opportunities for hunters and sporting organizations throughout Vermont.
