Washington DFW Fishing Rule Change: Salmon Regulations Established for Vancouver Lake

Action:   Opens Vancouver Lake for salmon harvest.

Species affected:   Salmon including chinook and coho.

Location:   Vancouver Lake including the flushing channel (inlet) and Lake River (outlet).

Effective dates:   Sept. 1, 2012, until further notice.

Reason for action:   Since the flushing channel has been constructed, there have been reports of mature coho salmon being caught in Vancouver Lake.  This regulation will allow the harvest of hatchery coho and chinook that may be migrating through the lake.

Other information:   The salmonid daily limit will be 6 fish, of which no more than 2 may be adult salmon or hatchery steelhead or one of each.  Through Sept. 9, only one may be an adult chinook salmon.  Release all salmon other than chinook and hatchery coho.  Salmon minimum size is 12 inches.
