Triton Pros Pull Off Onedia Hat Trick

The final, regular season event for the Bassmaster Elite Series proved to be a solid one for Triton pros Brent Chapman, Brandon Card and Boyd Duckett. Each came away from Oneida Lake, New York, with a bit more confidence and some extra hardware. Triton Pro Brent Chapman ended the season long quest to become Bassmaster Elite Series Angler of the Year, Triton Pro Brandon Card claimed his Bassmaster Elite Series Rookie of the Year crown and Triton Pro Boyd Duckett hoisted the Elite Series Tournament trophy over head, completing the Triton Hat Trick on Oneida Lake.
The Lake Quivira, Kan., native won his first Bassmaster Elite series Angler of the Year title this past weekend on Oneida Lake and also received a $100,000 check for his season-long effort.
“This is what everyone on this series strives for,” said Chapman. “I feel like a huge weight has been taken off my back. To achieve a lifetime goal is a remarkable feeling. This was anyone’s trophy coming into the event, and I was blessed enough to carry the title at the end of the day.”
Battling with the best anglers is hard enough, but to be a rookie on the circuit is brutal. Brandon Card set his sights on one goal at the beginning of the year, and this past weekend made that goal a reality – win the Bassmaster Elite Series Rookie of the Year title. The Triton pro angler completed this goal by finishing in 59th place overall at the Ramada Championship that took place on Oneida Lake, N. Y.
“This has been my goal all along going through the season,” said Card. “When you set a goal there is no reason to lose focus, and although I had a few finishes I wish I could change, it all worked itself out in the end. Everyone was great on the tour, and I look forward to my sophomore year with the elites. ”
While season long awards were being handed out, Boyd Duckett snuck up on the field to win the event. Duckett earned his fourth tour-level victory this past weekend. The Demopolis, Ala., native weighed in over 62-pounds of fish during the four-day event at Oneida Lake. The former Classic champion cashed a $100,000 check for his winning effort, edging the second place finisher by a mere 6 ounces.
“I’ve come a long way since the 2011 season,” said Duckett. “I’ve done pretty good all season, but needed to lock down my Classic qualification. One of the only ways I could do it was to cap off the season with a win on Oneida. Luckily, I found a great pocket of fish while sitting on the shore that held the fish I needed.”
Each of these pros have locked their way into the 2013 Bassmaster Classic, which will be held on Grand Lake near Tulsa, Oklahoma.
