The Colorado Parks and Wildlife Commission will establish harvest limits for the 2012-2013 mountain lion season when the Commission meets in Glenwood Springs Sept. 6 and 7.
The meeting will be held at the Hotel Denver, 402 Seventh Street in Glenwood Springs. The Commission agenda begins Thursday, Sept. 6 at 1 p.m. The Thursday agenda includes general updates on agency strategic priorities and a financial update. The Commission will reconvene at 8:30 a.m. Friday morning when regulation items will be considered.
The Parks and Wildlife Commission will consider changes to raptor importation guidelines for competitive national falconry events held in the state. Commissioners will receive information about the annual update to fishing regulations as well as draft regulations regarding prohibited species and fish stocking procedures. Draft regulations are reviewed by the Commission for direction and will not be finalized until a future meeting.
In addition, Commissioners will begin the formal regulatory process to implement provisions of House Bill 12-1330, which establishes a process for individuals with lengthy wildlife license suspensions to petition the Commission for reinstatement but only after serving half of their suspension or 15 years of a lifetime suspension.
Staff from Colorado Parks and Wildlife will provide informational updates to the Commission on the State Trails Program, Trail Committee selections, Snowmobile Capital Grants and the proposed calendar of Parks and Wildlife Commission meetings for 2013. A member of the public will present the Commission with a petition requesting consideration for the use of crossbows during the archery big game season in Colorado. Crossbows are currently legal for use during rifle seasons but illegal during the archery season.
