Colorodo’s Castlewood Canyon State Park Hosts Second Annual Haunted Trail

Have you ever wondered what scary things show up after sunset at Castlewood Canyon State Park? No, not just wildlife. Ghosts from bygone times in the park come out to play when it gets dark. A guided, mile-long haunted trail walk will begin at the park’s visitor center, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., on Friday, Oct. 19 and on Saturday, Oct. 20.

There will be ghost stories from days gone by. Visitors may encounter Conrad Moschel haunting the park in search of his missing scalp, torn from him by local residents over a century ago. Or, listen for the screams of the unfortunate Roger Floth, whose ghoulish dismembered body was thrown off the highway bridge into the canyon many harvest moons ago. Or maybe the ghost of Jim Reynolds will clank around with shackles on his ankles and a bullet hole in his head.

Hear all these spooky stories and more on Oct. 19 and Oct. 20. The $7 daily park entry fee or the $70 annual pass buys you and everyone in your vehicle a haunted trail walk, a haywagon ride back and a frightening good time. The Friends of Castlewood Canyon will provide a small token of appreciation for your attendance.  All are welcome, except the faint of heart!  Please leave all pets at home.

Don’t be afraid, be very afraid! Come to Castlewood Canyon’s Haunted Trail for a howling good time.
