Max Michel, Jr., held off a strong Open Division field to claim the top spot at the United States Practical Shooting Association’s (USPSA) Area 7 Championship this weekend in Harvard, Mass.

The final Area Championship before the USPSA’s Open Division national championship match, Michel finished up winning five of the 10 stages. A strong finish here will help build momentum heading into the training for the next match.

“I feel good about how I finished this match,” Michel said. “There are parts of my game that are working well and I was able to identify a few things to work on before Nationals.”

Michel finished with a final score of 1215.6725 match points, some 32.5086 points ahead of the runner-up.

Next weekend, Michel will be competing at the International Practical Shooting Association (IPSC) Nationals in Frostproof, Fla.
