Coming Up Next Weekend: King Kat Anglers Compete for Guaranteed $60,000 Purse

Coming up next weekend the Cabela’s King Kat Tournament Trail and Selma, Alabama will present the Cabela’s King Kat Classic on the Alabama River at Selma, Alabama September 27th, 28th and 29th, 2012. This is the one King Kat anglers have worked so hard to qualify for since that first event back in March at West Tawakoni, Texas. Anglers from over 25 different states have qualified to participate in this years Prestigious Cabela’s King Kat Classic.
Weigh-In Site
The event will begin for the Cabela’s King Kat anglers on Thursday the 27th. This will be a practice day for the teams to get their last chance to locate fish and check those hot spots they have already located. The tournament weigh-in will be held Friday and Saturday September 28th & 29th at the Selma City Marina. Tournament hours each day will be 6:30 AM until 3:00 PM. All anglers must be in weigh-in line by 4:00 PM each day with a 5 fish limit per team. To help preserve the sport only live fish will be weighed in and all fish will be released after the tournament. Spectators should get there early to assure a good seat to see some of the biggest fish caught this year brought to the scales and learn how they were caught. Interviews will be conducted of the top teams during and after the weigh in.
Payback for the event
Payback for the 2012 Cabela’s King Kat Classic will be a guaranteed $60,000.00 in cash and prizes including a new Oquawka Boat w/trailer, Evinrude Motor package. This payback is based on 100 boats. If entries exceed 100 boat the payback will increase accordingly.

Free Kids Fishing Rodeo
In conjunction with the tournament the Cabela’s King Kat Tournament Trail will hold the Cabela’s King Kat Kids event at the East Selma City Fish Pond, 501 Plant Street in Selma. The event is free of charge and open to all youth 12 and younger. Sign up is from8:00 AMtill9:00 AMwith the Kid’s Fishing Event starting at 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM. All children will receive a prize just for entering. Bring your favorite rod, reel and bait and show your true fishing ability. All children must be accompanied by parent or guardian. Prizes for winners will be given in two age groups, 0-7 and 8-12. The event is free to all children 12 and under with all participants eligible for a chance to win one of the six, Outdoor Promotions $1,000.00 scholarships to be awarded in October.
Outdoor Promotions and our anglers have contributed nearly $310,000.00 to the “Kids” Scholarships since 1997.
