Mississippi DWFP & Simpson County Pastors to Host Youth Fishing Rodeo at Simpson County Lake
The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) Fisheries Bureau and the Simpson County Pastoral Alliance are hosting a youth fishing rodeo at Simpson County Lake on Saturday, September 29, 2012. The fishing rodeo is open to youth under 16 years old, and registration begins at 7:00 a.m. Simpson County Lake is located on U. S. Highway 49 approximately 5 miles north of Magee, MS.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own fishing gear and catfish bait. Fishing equipment will be provided for anglers who need it.
“This rodeo offers a quality fishing experience for younger anglers in a controlled and safe environment,” according to MDWFP fisheries biologist Larry Bull. “Our rodeo net is well stocked with catfish to make it easier for our participants to catch a fish. This is a great way for a family to spend quality time together.”
