Public Invited to Attend Montana’s Land Conservation Meetings

The public is invited to attend two liaison meetings regarding conservation easements in northwest Montana:

Swan Liaison Team meeting:

October 1,1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Swan Lake Ranger Station located at 200 Ranger Station Road in Bigfork. This meeting is between Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP), Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation (DNRC), and The Nature Conservancy (TNC) related to Swan Valley conservation easements that FWP holds on approximately 16,553 acres of TNC and DNRC lands in the vicinity of the Swan River State Forest.

Thompson-Fisher Liaison Team meeting:

October 2, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at FWP Headquarters on 490 North Meridian Road in Kalispell.  This meeting is between Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP) and Plum Creek Timber Company (PCTC) related to the Thompson and Fisher River conservation easement that FWP holds on approximately 142,000 acres of PCTC lands in the areas of the Thompson and Fisher river valleys.

The Liaison Team meetings are required annually by the conservation easements and provide a forum for discussion of any issues that may arise with respect to public use, land use, access issues, conditions, or other unanticipated issues related to the conservation easement lands.
