Indiana’s Monroe Lake Offering Earth Science Week Programs, Oct. 14-20
Monroe Lake is recognizing National Earth Science Week with a special series of daily programs from Oct. 14 to 20.
Programs will be offered at Paynetown and Fairfax state recreation areas and at three libraries. The programs are:
- Oct. 14, 1-5 p.m., “Cupcake Core Sampling,” at Paynetown SRA Activity Center, 4850 S. S.R. 446, Bloomington
- Oct. 15, 3:30-5:30 p.m.,“The Mystery of Geodes,” at the Ellettsville Branch of Monroe County Public Library, 600 W. Temperance St., Ellettsville
- Oct. 16, 7 p.m.,“Rocks Tell a Story: The Geology of Monroe Lake,” at Paynetown SRA Activity Center, 4850 S. S.R. 446, Bloomington
- Oct. 17, 3:30-5:30 p.m., “Forming Fossils,” at Bedford Public Library, 1323 K St., Bedford
- Oct. 18, 3:30-5:30 p.m., “Break It Down,” at Bedford Public Library, 1323 K St., Bedford
- Oct. 19, 6:30-8:30 p.m., “It’s Not My Fault!” at Four Winds Resort in Fairfax SRA, 9301 Fairfax Road, Bloomington
- Oct. 19, 7:30-9 p.m., “Star Gaze with the Astronomy Club,” on the beach at Paynetown SRA, 4850 S. S.R. 446, Bloomington
- Oct. 20, 1-5 p.m., “Catching the Rain,” at Paynetown SRA Activity Center, 4850 S. S.R. 446, Bloomington

All library programs and the Oct. 16 program at Paynetown SRA are free. The remaining programs at Paynetown and the program at Fairfax SRA require an entrance fee of $5 per in-state vehicle or $7 per out-of-state vehicle.
