Gerogia DNR: October is Catfish Harvest at Go Fish

Bring your coolers! It’s time to catch catfish out of the fishing pond at Go Fish Education Center in Perry.

Visitors can catch and take home five catfish each on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays during October.

The fishing pond also contains hybrid striped bass and bream for catch-and-release fishing.

To take advantage of the October Harvest, visit the center from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays or 1- 5 p.m. Sundays. Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors, $3 for children 3-12, and free for those 2 or younger.

Adults (ages 16 and up) need a valid Georgia fishing license. Licenses can be purchased at www.georgiawildlife.com or the center. Anglers younger than 16 do not need a license.

Fishing poles and bait are provided free at the center. Staff and volunteers will be on hand to help new anglers at the pond and give instruction on how to clean the fish at home. Staff recommends bringing a cooler and ice from home.

The center is at 1255 Perry Parkway, Perry, adjacent to the Georgia National Fairgrounds. From I-75, take exit 134 and go east 3/4 mile. For more information, call (478) 988-6701 or visit www.gofisheducationcenter.com .
