Bass boats got bigger, the fishing tackle got smaller and modern sporting rifles became common sights in hunting camps as the last 25 years brought a host of changes to even the tradition-steeped outdoor industry. But one thing that hasn’t changed in the last quarter century is where many companies go to keep their brands top of mind with consumers and deadline-driven media alike. This year marks an important milestone for this trusted outdoor-industry resource as Blue Heron Communications celebrates its 25th Anniversary.

Blue Heron Communications, headquartered in Norman, is an all-purpose marketing communications agency specializing in the outdoor recreation industry. Founded in 1987 in the small town of Honeoye Falls, N.Y., by veteran public relations executive and devoted outdoor enthusiast, Gary Giudice, Blue Heron relocated to central Oklahoma in 1994. Today, the company operates out of its dedicated facility near the campus of the University of Oklahoma, employing more than 20 people.

Blue Heron’s reputation within the outdoor industry has brought it a wealth of partnerships with industry-leading brands. Whereas many professional relationships are measured in financial quarters, Blue Heron’s average partnership lasts longer than nine years – with some relationships already past the 20-year mark.

“We consider ourselves fortunate to work in a place where we can merge our passion for the outdoors with our professional skills,” said Giudice, president of Blue Heron Communications. “I believe it is this passion coupled with our proficiency as marketers that has brought us to this important milestone and will help us reach future ones.”

Blue Heron Communications’ clients include BLACKHAWK!, Boone and Crockett Club, The Coleman Company Inc., Dallas Safari Club, IFA Kayak Fishing and Redfish Tours, National Hunting and Fishing Day, Pure Fishing, Ranger Boats, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Smith & Wesson, Stratos Boats, Texas Team Trail, Thompson/Center, Triton Boats and U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service.
