Kansas Youth Waterfowl Season Date Correction

The dates for the youth waterfowl season in the Low Plains Late Duck Zone were incorrect in an Oct. 4 news release. The correct dates for the Low Plains Late Duck Zone youth season are Oct. 20-21. Youth waterfowl seasons are usually set to open the weekend before the opening weekend of the regular season in each zone. Youth seasons are established to give youth high-quality hunting opportunities, and they also allow parents and mentors to take youth hunting without sacrificing their own hunting time.

The last special youth seasons of the fall occur Nov. 3-4: youth waterfowl in the Low Plains Southeast Duck Zone and pheasant and quail statewide.

During a youth season, young hunters must be accompanied by an adult 18 or older, and the adult may not hunt. The waterfowl season is open to youth 15 and younger and daily bag limits for ducks and geese are the same as those during the regular season. The youth pheasant and quail season is open to youth 16 and younger, and daily bag limits are half that of the regular season, two rooster pheasants and four quail.
