Maryland DNR Reopens Susquehanna Boat Launching Facility

Susquehanna State Park’s Lapidum Boat Launching facility is now open after being closed for two weeks for a sediment removal project cut short. The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) had to put the project on hold due to a broken machine.

Removal of the excessive sediment, caused by Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee, is required to keep the facility safe and accessible. The work will be rescheduled to resume within the next year – the exact date dependant on weather, tides, other projects and permits. At that time, the launch will again be closed. DNR is making every effort to complete the work in an efficient and timely manner.
