Taurus, the global leader in revolver manufacturing, has a strong commitment to the Boy Scouts of America. The BSA South Florida Council Sporting Clays Invitational is a fun filled day of fellowship and friendly shotgun shooting on a 14-station course at the Quail Creek Plantation in Okeechobee, Florida. Held October 18th and 19th Taurus fielded two teams and was also an event sponsor funding an event stage, the coveted “Judge Stage”, donating an Argentina dove hunt for the live auction with Taurus Senior Management and Team Captain Jessie Duff, as well as a “Taurus Experience” plant tour.
The Taurus Team included Mark Kresser, President and CEO of Taurus, who took high individual of 208 shooters with a near perfect 98, David Blenker – Executive VP (3rd overall with 96), Juli Brayton – Marketing Director and Kimberly Intagliata –Customer Service Manager (Tied for Second Lady), along with Aaron and Larry Moore – vendor partners from LaserLyte. The Team of Kresser, Blenker, Moore and Moore took a well-earned second place (of 52 competing teams) after a dead-tie for the lead, ending in a shoot-off.
Proceeds from the event will support South Florida Council’s leadership and character development programs with over 32,000 youth served. The 2-day event raised over $185,000 for the South Florida Council. David Blenker, Chairman of the event and Executive Vice President of Taurus comments, “It is an honor to support an organization such as the Boy Scouts of America and I would like to thank all of the gun industry sponsors for their ongoing commitment. The proceeds raised from this event completely funded the ground-up rebuild of Camp Seminole that was devastated in 1995 after Hurricane Wilma displaced our Scouts. BSA programs for young people build character, along with training in the responsibilities of participating citizenship. Taurus embraces this relationship in developing positive core values in today’s generation as they discover and develop a life-long passion for the shooting sports.”
